Corporate Staff Accountant
This individual works alongside the Finance and Accounting Team to prepare and complete all financial documents, draw preparations, draw reconciliations, project and company reporting, and the monthly closing of the books. The project accountant is the primary resource for the corporate VP of Finance and Accounting, as well as project teams, to support billings and ensure compliance with company policies.
Support project teams with budget tracking, preparation, and processing of budget adjustments.
Support AR / AP and all related activities.
Ensure compliance with tracking and obtaining the appropriate construction lien releases.
Data entry responsibilities
Contribute to the Month-End close process, including but not limited to, bank, balance sheet and job cost reconciliations.
Assist with the 1099 process.
Assist in budget planning/ reconciliations for projects directly supporting the VP of Finance and Accounting as well as project teams.
Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports.
Create new processes to improve financial efficiency.
Project billing and reconciliation: Prepare and complete all final vendor reconciliation with the operations team. Responsible for gathering coding and entering the supporting invoices according to the project timeline.
Maintain consultant files and assist with project related consultant contracts, agreements, change orders, budgets, schedules, checklists, etc. in Excel, Sage or other platforms.
Ensure completion of special projects and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or similar equivalent experience
Background in accounting or similar, preferably 2+ years of experience
Must be self-motivating, highly organized, articulate, and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must possess a strong work and collaborative ethic: must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
